Events Impact Partnership with CapeTownMagazine.com provides off-season opportunities to unlock unique economic impact for Plett Ocean Festival and Plett Art Fest.
Plett Tourism today at WTM announced an Event Impact Partnership with CapeTownMagazine.com for both Plett Ocean Festival taking place 4 – 13 July 2025, and Plett Arts Fest taking place 3-12 October 2025.
The first morning of WTM Africa was the perfect opportunity to formalise the synergy identified in meetings about how to bring out the lesser-told stories to broader audiences, while also making an impact during the off-season.
Plett Tourism CEO Patty Butterworth explains: “This partnership with CapeTownMagazine.com is about increasing our capacity and extending our reach. It supports our goal to counteract seasonality and to connect with a wider and more high-spend audience. Events like the Plett Ocean Festival have the potential to ignite innovation, education, and sustainable tourism that benefits the entire region.
The Plett Ocean Festival promotes the conservation and preservation of our coastline and marine life by inspiring people to be more observant through a series of ocean-centric events.
The Plett Arts Festival has the ability to bring out a side of Plettenberg Bay that can draw a niche audience, both in South Africa and globally.
“The Event Impact Partnership’s access to expertise and storymaking, combined with a focus on real economic impact, is very exciting for our team,” adds Butterworth.
Stephanie Levendal, CapeTownMagazine.com Partner Impact Programme head, adds: “Our Events Impact Programme is designed to connect the magic that event organisers create to the audiences that matter, which translates into interest when done right.
“We run an event scan, tackle underlying challenges, and unearth 95% of opportunities often missed. Turning that into practical, measurable wins—with the same amount of time and effort invested.
“That’s where the real magic happens: when a moment of joy becomes a lifelong memory, and a destination gains not just a visitor, but a returning one. We believe that events, especially in smaller destinations and off-peak months, are key to growing owner-run businesses, optimising possible travel flows, addressing over-tourism and turning it into opportunity, and creating a more inclusive, sustainable tourism economy.”
“It’s a win for event organisers. A win for owner-managed businesses in small towns. A win for tourism authorities. And most importantly, a win for people, who get to discover places in a new way, feel connected, and experience real joy,” Levendal concludes.
