- Briefly tell us about your personal history (who are you; where you come from; hope and aspirations):
- I am Koleka Maboza Cele who is currently a businesswoman residing in Tsolo in the Eastern Cape. I am the Director of The Hill Boutique Hotel in Tsolo, Eastern Cape. Nestled in this rural area, my vision was to create a haven of luxury and comfort that could also serve as a hub for tourism and business in the region.
- Briefly describe your business/venture in three sentences:
- Four-star graded boutique hotel that has 25 rooms, 2 conference rooms, restaurant & bar, spa, gym & swimming pools.
- We also host small functions like baby showers and birthday parties. Our conference rooms can sit 100 guest church style and 70 guest classroom style.
- We take day visitors for pool enjoyment, spa restaurant and bar
- What inspires you to get up and pursue your business/venture or purpose:
- Tsolo is a rural town that is seriously under-developed and there is high unemployment. These are the things that fuelled me to initiate this project, and it has made a huge impact in the community due to job creation.
- Briefly tell us about an initiative or project, that you have accomplished, that you are proud of:
- Developing The Hill Boutique Hotel from scratch, first of its kind in a rural town and making it such a success makes me very proud. National Empowerment Fund and Tourism Transformation Fund made it possible for the project to be completed within record time and desired standard.
